    Section 17: Outboard Leading Edge (60 / 131 wings / 468 total)

I completed the outboard leading edge on both wings. The construction was fairly straight-forward. I felt that completing the leading edge was a good practice session before building the fuel tanks, since they are fairly similar.

Unfortunately, I completely lost track of my build time, so the times i note above are very much estimates for the leading edge.

Crap, i just had a horrible flashback to the Splice Strip. For whatever reason, i was too conservative when drilling the countersinks for the nutplates on the splice strip. Thus, the rivets were standing a bit proud from flush. This was a major major pain. I thought I could move-on, however, the thought of the rivets rubbing against the fuel tank flange kept bothering me.

Thus, I had to drill out all the nutplate rivets, countersink, and rivet again all the nutplates. This was the one task that caused me anguish. By the time I had completed the work on the splice strips, my fingers were raw from holding the nutplates tight for riveting.
